The YWCA Santa Monica / Westside Launches The Women's Partnership -- Co-Sponsored by the Santa Monica Commission on the Status of Women

SANTA MONICA, CA--(Marketwire - March 1, 2011) - The YWCA Santa Monica / Westside's Women's Partnership is establishing a community of boomers and beyond, professional-level women who will be trained to support the new economy by serving as high-level volunteers with nonprofit organizations and civic offices. Register for the Partnership's first offerings: Three exhilarating, interactive learning weekends in private Westside homes.

CIVICALLY ENGAGED READING AND DISCUSSION: A Shared Inquiry™ Workshop. April 2-3, 2011, 9:00 am-3:00pm, Great Books Foundation. Using texts that speak to our societal roles, this workshop will demonstrate how to formulate and pursue interpretive questions about the authors' meanings, choose reading materials that lead to rich conversation, and facilitate discussion groups so that participants can share rewarding and insightful experiences. Deadline, March 18.

EXCAVATING YOUR FUTURE: A Writing Workshop in Self-Discovery. April 30-May 1, 2011, 9:00am-5:00pm, UCLArts and Healing. In this workshop, you will write about your life, your observations of the world around you, and learn to communicate in a way that is yours alone. You will discover how your life story can influence and positively affect you and your environment. Deadline, April 15.

A WEEKEND OF THOUGHT AND ACTION: Creating Community Change. June 4-5, 2011, Saturday 9:00am-3:00pm, Sunday 9:00am-4:00pm, Coro Public Affairs Training Center. In one weekend, you will experience, in small, the real world and real issues confronting Santa Monica. Working in teams, you will be presented with a problem, interact with the community, and develop and test solutions you believe will work. Deadline, May 20.
