YYoga Opening Its Biggest Centre in B.C. at TELUS Garden

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - June 29, 2012) - YYoga will open a new centre in TELUS Garden - a 20,000 square foot space complete with yoga studios, including hot yoga rooms, a fitness centre, a 20-metre outdoor pool and hot tub, and an outdoor terrace and amenity space with a kitchen.

The YYoga studio will be located on the third floor of the TELUS Garden residential tower, a 53-storey LEED Gold certified building located at the corner of Robson and Richards. The TELUS Garden development will also feature a 24-storey LEED Platinum signature office tower, public plaza, restaurants and amenities, and will be Vancouver's most technologically advanced and environmentally sustainable project when complete in 2014.

Residents of TELUS Garden will receive special discounts on YYoga memberships and TELUS employees will be offered preferential pricing on memberships as part of their healthcare benefits package. The general public will have access to the centre with regular memberships.

"We are incredibly excited about this initiative, and what it means for YYoga," said YYoga CEO, Terry McBride. "The decision to partner with Westbank and TELUS was simple, not only because TELUS Garden is a state of the art development, but also because we believe there is a perfect synergy between our brands' commitment to innovation, stewardship of our environment and community. The TELUS Garden YYoga partnership will encourage new ways to cultivate community and the perfect work-life balance, which matches our promise to provide an environment centered on wellness and quality and rooted in community. Additionally, being a part of this project is directly in line with the YYoga vision for growth and expansion, not only in Vancouver, but across North America. This initiative places us one step closer to our goal of bringing yoga to everyone's front door."

"The TELUS team is thrilled to welcome YYoga to the TELUS Garden development. Their guest-focused approach to yoga and goal to encourage healthy lifestyles mirrors TELUS' commitment to putting our customers first and building healthy, sustainable communities," said Andrea Goertz, senior vice-president, TELUS Strategic Initiatives. "Our employees are our greatest asset, and being able to offer them a one-of-a kind healthcare benefit to help them achieve an improved work-life balance is an incredible opportunity. We are also excited to be able to elevate the caliber of fitness amenities available to workers and residents in the Downtown Vancouver community."

According to WestBank's President, Ian Gillespie, "Westbank is known for creating innovative and cutting-edge developments, and TELUS Garden is no exception. Since we conceived the project, we envisioned that TELUS Garden amenities would support residents and employees living and working there to cultivate healthy lifestyles. The YYoga partnership is a vital element in helping us realize our vision, as they are leaders in their field, and we are so pleased to welcome them to TELUS Garden."

About TELUS Garden

The $750 million, one million square foot development in the heart of Downtown Vancouver will incorporate a LEED Platinum 24-storey signature office tower, the first of its kind in Canada, a LEED Gold 53-storey residential tower with more than 425 green homes, and retail space along Robson and Georgia. Located adjacent to SkyTrain, there will be facilities for bicycles and charging stations for electric cars.

TELUS Garden will create more than 500 construction jobs in Vancouver during development. The office tower is scheduled for final occupancy in June of 2014, with the residential scheduled for final occupancy May of 2015.
