Zaarly Adds Local Community Building Expert Kevin Newsum to Its Team to Connect Austin With Small Businesses

AUSTIN, TX--(Marketwired - August 26, 2015) - Zaarly, a highly-curated digital home services marketplace, has added local community-building expert, Kevin Newsum, as Austin Community Manager to connect the very best local home service small businesses with Austin homeowners.

As the original community manager for Yelp in Austin, Newsum successfully fostered healthy communities by building relationships among local businesses and citizens. With Yelp, he grew the site's presence into a vibrant and sustained group of passionate users in both Austin and the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Newsum, leaning on his skills as a connector, also founded 20x2, a popular ongoing project at SXSW Interactive that brings together creatives in an event setting, which has grown from Austin to cities like Chicago, London and New York.

In his role with Zaarly, Newsum will facilitate relationships among featured local small business, homeowners' associations and community groups to share the platform, while upholding Zaarly's high standard of quality. Working with the existing Zaarly team, Newsum will connect the Austin community with the highly curated list of small business owners available on Zaarly's digital marketplace.

"Zaarly's finger is on the pulse of the local small business community and mine is in the wider Austin community, so this was a natural fit," Newsum said. "I look forward to doing what I do best -- connecting people with great ideas and businesses."

Zaarly launched in Austin in July after interviewing dozens of small business owners in the house cleaning, lawn care and handyman fields. The Zaarly marketplace only features the very best small businesses in Austin, and allows Austinites a seamless way to find, hire, schedule and pay for home services and feel confident in who they choose.

"At Zaarly, we look for the best in everything we do, and we think we found it with Kevin," said Bo Fishback, Zaarly CEO and Founder. "With his experience in Austin and his skills as a connector, Kevin will help us become an integral part of the community."
