Zacuto Films Continues With a Third Season of the Web Based Video Critique Show -- critics

CHICAGO, IL--(Marketwire - March 16, 2011) - After sixteen webisodes, Zacuto Films, an Emmy Award winning production house, continues with its webisodic series -- critics. In the middle of their third season, the web series features Director Steve Weiss and London based DP Philip Bloom. Recently shortlisted for the 2011 Webby Awards in the Online Film & Video Variety Category, the web show is one of the first to exclusively critique web-based video content.

With no limitations of network censorship or television politics, the web show pushes the limits by showcasing controversial short films and the co-hosts review with a no-holding-back style of commentary. "This year, video selections push the boundaries and ignite conversation," says Director and Host Steve Weiss. One of these films includes Axel Cipollini's "Blood in the Sand," documenting the harsh realities of bull fighting in Spain. "Although difficult to watch, this film depicts the true nature of the sport and sparks conversations across continents," says Weiss.

Another video critiqued on the show this season includes, Director Ronan Jorah's "SS" Trailer. "Here is a guy who is making a WWII picture in his basement, for no money and it looks incredible," says Weiss. In contrast, the season also highlights short films of love, hope and romance: "Vicky and Sam" a hopeless romantic love story by Nuno Rocha. "This has now taken my top slot of Internet entertainment and sets the bar for all web films to come," says co-host Philip Bloom. Additionally, "Nuit Blanche" Directed by Arev Manoukian, features an old Hollywood, chance encounter of two strangers crashing into love.

Web series' creators Steve Weiss and Jens Bogehegn produced their first web show, "FilmFellas" in December 2008. Now in its 8th season, this Emmy Nominated Web Series brings together award-winning filmmakers for round table discussions on the independent film industry. Additional web series' include: Emmy Award winning "The Great Camera Shootout 2010," and the critique show -- critics. Coming in 2011: "The Great Camera Shootout 2011": a documentary about the Single Chip Camera Evaluation (SCCE) series of tests conducted by Robert Primes ASC, and bts: a documentary about making documentaries, which follows Director T.C. Johnstone, Producer Greg Kwedar, and their entire film crew, on the making of their upcoming documentary "Rising From Ashes." For more information, visit
