Zacuto Releases Final Episode of Critics Web Series

CHICAGO, IL--(Marketwire - Dec 16, 2011) - The final episode of Zacuto Films' "Critics" web series was released on Dec. 7th. After three seasons, 19 episodes and 64 critiqued videos the series conclusion, "Last Laugh," went live to audiences last week.

In the show, co-hosts Director, Steve Weiss of Zacuto and Director of Photography, Philip Bloom, critique short web films that have been created by independent filmmakers. In the final episode, Weiss and Bloom reviewed four web shorts, First they came by Florian Malak, Apple of My Eye by Michael Koerbel, Love, She is Cruel by Jade Mulvaney & Robyn Oettle and Dark Side of the Lens by Mickey Smith.

"In this episode we start off with a video made with an iPhone teaching us that the camera is irrelevant to the quality of the film," says Series Director, Steve Weiss. "This later proves true in a student film that neither Phil nor I understood leading into a conversation of what is and what is not pretentious. The highlight of the show is the gorgeous moving documentary called Dark Side of the Lens. This is definitely in Phil's and my top 30 videos on the internet."

"'Critics' gave me a great opportunity to watch some amazing online films, it's amazing the talent out there," says Bloom. "It's a shame the show is no more but all good things must to come to an end and as Steve is being retired into a home it was inevitable!"
