Zacuto Releases Second Episode of The Great Camera Shootout 2011

CHICAGO, IL--(Marketwire - Aug 3, 2011) - A new installment of the Zacuto web series, "The Great Camera Shootout 2011" hit the internet earlier this week. The second episode of the series, "Sensors & Sensitivity," explores the details of camera sensitivity, resolution and compression.

"When we started this Shootout Series, it was really important to me to make each episode more educational then any show we've done before," say series producer Scott Lynch. "I wanted people to not only be entertained but I also really wanted them to be more informed about how cameras record images. When talking about concepts like color subsampling, compression and perceived sharpness, things can get really complicated and technical. However, I think we did a great job distilling the information and making it approachable to people from all sorts of backgrounds."

The Great Camera Shootout's comparison of the industry's top twelve cameras has become an invaluable resource for filmmakers searching for the right camera for a particular job. Ranging in price from $1,500 to $200,000, these cameras face "real-world" tests and provide detailed answers to the questions every filmmaker wants to ask.

In the first episode of "The Great Camera Shootout 2011" we took a look at three Single Chip Camera Evaluation (SCCE) Tests: The Dynamic Range Test, The Under Exposure Test and The Over Exposure Test. All tests were designed and administered by Robert Primes, ASC. In the second episode, Primes explains the sensitivity tests through a series of testimonials and graphics. Each camera then shoots test charts and practical sets with actors to make a fair comparison of each camera's image quality.
