Zarlink to Discuss Latest Timing Solutions for Wireless Backhaul at Freescale Technology Forum-India

OTTAWA, CANADA--(Marketwire - Aug. 22, 2011) - Zarlink Semiconductor (TSX:ZL) today announced that system architect director Maamoun Seido will be presenting a technical paper on the benefits of Zarlink and Freescale's IEEE 1588 solutions for wireless backhaul applications at the Freescale Technology Forum – India (August 24-25, Bengaluru, India).

"The Freescale Technology Forum is a premiere technical event that provides Zarlink with a unique opportunity to interact with partners and customers targeting growth opportunities in India," said Louise Gaulin, Vice President of Zarlink's Timing and Synchronization product group. "Zarlink's IEEE 1588 enabled Synchronous Ethernet devices, with Freescale's embedded time stamp capabilities, deliver complete synchronization performance. This level of performance is very important as carriers plan a cost-effective migration to packet-based backhaul to handle increasing data traffic created by mobile services."

The session, titled "IEEE 1588 for Telecom and Networking Applications", is scheduled for Thursday, August 25 at 4 p.m., in the Yatra room. In addition, Zarlink will be showcasing its comprehensive portfolio of timing and voice solutions at the Freescale Technology Forum – India Technology Lab.

IEEE 1588 enabled SyncE devices

Zarlink recently introduced its platform of single-chip IEEE 1588 enabled Synchronous Ethernet (SyncE) phase locked loop (PLL) devices. The scalable, single-chip solution integrates low bandwidth PLLs with very low jitter synthesizers, enabling a seamless migration path from SyncE to IEEE 1588 while supporting external time stamping functionality.
