LOS ANGELES, CA--(Marketwire - March 3, 2009) - Bonnie Nijst, CEO of Zeesman Communications, Inc., will be honored as the National Association of Women Business Owners-Los Angeles (NAWBO-LA) Member of the Year for 2009 for her entrepreneurial advocacy during the 23rd Annual NAWBO-LA Leadership & Legacy Awards Luncheon to be held March 13th at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. The Member of the Year Award recognizes the exceptional contributions, leadership and achievements made by a NAWBO-LA member in service to the organization. This is only the fifth time this prestigious award has been bestowed in the past 30 years.

Ms. Nijst has been an active member of NAWBO-LA for six years. She served as president of the Los Angeles Chapter during 2006 - 2007, applying her expertise to re-brand NAWBO-LA and elevate the organization's stature among the vibrant Los Angeles business community. Her firm's award-winning work gained national attention for the Los Angeles Chapter and helped position it as one of the most influential in the association. In addition, Ms. Nijst served as the Vice Chair of the Board of Directors of the Enterprise Institute of NAWBO-LA, the organization's 501 (c) 3.

She currently serves on the board of directors of the California Family Health Council, and is a member of both the Minority Business Enterprise Input Committee of the Southern California Minority Business Development Council and the Economic Development Council of the Beverly Hills Chamber of Commerce. She is also a member of Women Presidents' Organization. In addition, she is a past president of Women in Communications/Los Angeles and past Los Angeles board member of the International Association of Business Communicators.
