Zehnder's Snowfest Celebrates 25th Anniversary January 27 - February 1, 2016


FRANKENMUTH, MI--(Marketwired - Jan 19, 2016) - Michigan's premiere snow and ice carving event will celebrate 25 years of creating artful winter masterpieces in Frankenmuth, Michigan's Bavarian-themed village. This year's Zehnder's Snowfest, January 27 through February 1, will present a continuous menu of competitive events featuring world-class ice and snow sculptors. Whether watching carvers, voting for favorites, enjoying live entertainment, dancing, riding a carousel or a pony, there is something for everyone.

Michigan Favorite Apple Recipe Contest Welcomes Food Network Celebrity
Returning this year is Michigan's Favorite Apple Recipe Contest presented in the warming tent by Zehnder's, Michigan Apples, Pioneer Sugar, WSGW/AM and WITL/FM. On Wednesday, January 27, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., the free event will feature judging of apple dessert, pasta and sandwich finalists along with live entertainment. Food Network celebrity chef Becky Wortman, one of the top ten cake artists in the nation, will be a featured guest and be a judge for the contest. Visitors can sample food, win prizes and take home recipe books. Chef Wortman will do a butter cream cake demonstration in Zehnder's Bakery on Friday, January 29.

Outdoor Gallery of Winter Art
Snowfest 2016 focuses on presenting some of our past top snow and ice carving teams. Several tons of snow will be sculpted into winter art by professionals, state wide teams, high school and college students and children. The gallery of snow and ice works can be seen throughout the festival on Main Street and areas adjacent to Zehnder's Restaurant, Frankenmuth Riverplace and Edwin L. Zehnder Park. All scheduled outdoor activities and events may be changed due to weather conditions.

Special Events
To honor the 25th anniversary, visitors will enjoy a special music choreographed fireworks display on Saturday, January 30 at 6:45 p.m.

On Monday, February 1, the 24th annual Chef's Hot Food Competition and Tasting will take place at Zehnder's restaurant beginning at 6:00 p.m. This year's menu features Cajun and Creole dishes prepared by local chefs and area culinary students. Sponsored by the American Culinary Federation/Saginaw Valley Chapter, tickets are $30 per person. Ticket sales will help support the Saginaw Eastside Soup Kitchen.
