Zeligsoft and I-Logix Sign Interoperability Agreement Targeting Software Defined Radio Development

GATINEAU, CANADA--(CCNMatthews - Nov. 10, 2005) -

Complementary tools provide unique offering for development of systems conforming to the Joint Tactical Radio System (JTRS) program's Software Communications Architecture (SCA) standard

Zeligsoft™, a leading vendor of market-specific embedded software development tools announced today that it has signed an interoperability and marketing agreement with I-Logix™ (http://www.ilogix.com), the leading worldwide Unified Modeling Language (UML™) based Model-Driven Development (MDD) solution provider. Under the agreement, the companies will offer interoperability between Zeligsoft's Component Enabler™ (CE) and I-Logix' Rhapsody™ MDD environments, develop product compatibility with other equipment manufacturers, and participate in cooperative sales and marketing efforts.

The agreement ensures that developers can leverage both Zeligsoft and I-Logix MDD capabilities with one integrated workflow to accelerate development and produce high-quality Software Defined Radio (SDR) systems conforming to the Joint Tactical Radio System (JTRS) program's Software Communications Architecture (SCA) standard.

"It was a mutual customer who recognized the synergy between our two product offerings and envisioned superior productivity by integrating our tools together," said Francis Bordeleau, President and CEO, Zeligsoft. "The integrated workflow between Zeligsoft CE and I-Logix Rhapsody allows designers to exploit Zeligsoft CE's comprehensive SCA validation and SCA code generation functionality in projects where they use I-Logix Rhapsody for radio systems architecture, and control and signal processing code generation."

Employing the integrated tools workflow, Zeligsoft CE serves as the SCA backbone development tool. CE validates component-based software models for SCA compliance, contributes all domain-specific software artifacts-such as SCA component code, descriptor files and documentation-and provides SCA deployment observation. I-Logix Rhapsody's Systems Modeling Language (SysML) capability is based on the SysML v.91 and domain specific language capabilities, namely the Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DoDAF) package. SysML can be used up-front to model the radio system architecture. Rhapsody's support of UML state and structure diagrams allows the environment to support the development of implementations for individual components, as well. Since CE and Rhapsody both support UML, SCA artifacts and non-SCA artifacts can be developed using the tools in tandem. Zeligsoft CE links and compiles the software artifacts generated from the two tools, so that a fully-validated SCA compliant implementation can be brought to a target system at any time during the development process.

"Many of our customers are taking on advanced SDR projects requiring conformity to the SCA," said George LeBlanc, VP of Business Development, I-Logix. "The Zeligsoft integration allows our customers to benefit from Component Enabler's domain specific modeling capabilities for SCA combined with Rhapsody's widely used, general purpose development environment for embedded systems and software."

"Zeligsoft is very happy to have joined forces with another best-in-class tools vendor," said Kamal Krishnapillai, VP Sales and Marketing, Zeligsoft. "The combination of Rhapsody and Component Enabler provides unmatched functionality for SCA based Software Radio development."

The integrated workflow between Zeligsoft CE and I-Logix Rhapsody is available today. The integration will be demonstrated at the 2005 Software Defined Radio Technical Conference and Product Exposition at the Hyatt Regency Orange County, CA, November 14-18, 2005.

Zeligsoft is a leading provider of market-specific embedded software development tools that enable the development of component-based systems. The world's leading aerospace and defence companies use Zeligsoft tools to improve the time to market and quality of their component-based software. Adapting to established development practices, and working with other best-in-class tools, Zeligsoft tools abstract complex standards away from designers, generate domain-specific software artifacts, and guide project teams through the development process. Zeligsoft is the only company in the embedded tools space concentrating on modeling, validation, generation, debugging, automated testing and deployment management of entire component-based systems. Zeligsoft's current target market is the Software Defined Radio (SDR) industry, which has standardized on the component-based Software Communications Architecture (SCA). Next generation products and key strategic partnerships will expand the Zeligsoft customer value into other verticals in the embedded systems space, including defence electronics, telecommunications and automotive. The Zeligsoft team comprises leading toolsmiths and software engineering experts who possess extensive experience in software engineering processes and Model Driven Development (MDD). Zeligsoft drives industry standards by contributing significantly to key forums such as the Object Management Group (OMG) and the SDR (Software Defined Radio) Forum. Zeligsoft is headquartered in the Ottawa-Gatineau region amongst some of the world's largest and most innovative high-technology companies.
