Zeligsoft Releases Version 2.0 of Flagship Product: Zeligsoft Component EnablerTM 'CE' Supports Modeling, Validation, and Artifact Generation of SCA Deployments

GATINEAU, QUEBEC--(CCNMatthews - Aug. 16, 2005) - Zeligsoft™, a leading vendor of market-specific embedded software development tools today announced the release of Zeligsoft CE™ (Component Enabler) 2.0, supporting SCA deployment management. With CE 2.0, developers have the tools, approaches and automation they need to guarantee the right deployment or assignment of software components to hardware devices in an SCA Software Defined Radio.

"An SCA radio brings together software applications and a hardware platform," said John Hogg, Chief Technology Officer, Zeligsoft. "Deploying an SCA compliant Software Defined Radio (SDR) is tricky because the assignment of software components to hardware devices is done dynamically, at system initialization time. Development and integration teams have been able to model, validate, generate and test software components and hardware devices separately, but up until now, have not been able to test and control the deployments that could happen during run-time."

Zeligsoft CE 2.0 provides powerful automation to represent, validate, calculate and enforce deployments in fielded systems. For example, CE can compute a set of all potential deployments from which a developer can select a sub-set of optimal deployments to be modeled, verified and enforced. The integrated workflow functionality of CE 2.0 allows the system designer to manage deployments from the beginning, reducing project risk and improving software quality.

In addition to deployment management, CE 2.0 features integration with popular configuration management tools such as Rational ClearCase™, scripting interfaces for integration with software build processes, and automatic code generation of SCA artifacts.

"Component Enabler now covers the complete realm of SCA development," said Francis Bordeleau, President, Zeligsoft. "Customers can reverse engineer existing components, forward engineer new components, model their applications, platforms and deployments, generate SCA code and documentation for these and enforce their fully validated SCA deployments in the field."

The winning embedded systems providers will be those who adopt best-in-class tools and ensure that domain specific software aspects are part of an iterative and systematic development process. Zeligsoft Component Enabler is proven to accelerate time to market and improve software quality of SCA systems. Now, with CE 2.0, designers can model and validate SCA compliance for deployments at multiple stages of the development process, reducing risk, saving time, and ensuring the reliability of fielded systems.

CE 2.0 is available now. Customers with current maintenance contracts receive this release at no additional cost.

Zeligsoft is a leading provider of market-specific embedded software development tools that enable the development of component-based systems. The world's leading aerospace and defence companies use Zeligsoft tools to improve the time to market and quality of their component-based software. Adapting to established development practices, and working with other best-in-class tools, Zeligsoft tools abstract complex standards away from designers, generate domain-specific software artifacts, and guide project teams through the development process. Zeligsoft is the only company in the embedded tools space concentrating on modeling, validation, generation, debugging, automated testing and deployment management of entire component-based systems. Zeligsoft's current target market is the Software Defined Radio (SDR) industry, which has standardized on the component-based Software Communication Architecture (SCA). Next generation products and key strategic partnerships will expand the Zeligsoft customer value into other verticals in the embedded systems space, including defence electronics, telecommunications and automotive. The Zeligsoft team comprises leading toolsmiths and software engineering experts who possess extensive experience in software engineering processes and Model Driven Development (MDD). Zeligsoft drives industry standards by contributing significantly to key forums such as the Object Management Group (OMG) and the SDR (Software Defined Radio) Forum. SDR: Software Defined Radio. A single flexible hardware radio platform adapts to multiple wireless services, standards, and protocols implemented in software.

SCA: Software Communication Architecture. A DoD - defined framework standard for SDR. All current DoD radio development must be SCA-compliant. It is widely expected that future global programmable radios in fields such as commercial wireless, public safety, and automotive will adopt SCA as well.
