Zenprise Helps Manage Influx of Android Smartphones/Tablets With "Build Your Own" App Store and Remote Control

New Android Capabilities Introduce Centralized Model to Configure, Provision and Secure Devices; OTA Access to Smartphones and Tablets Lowers Troubleshooting and Support Costs

FREMONT, CA--(Marketwire - February 8, 2011) - Zenprise, Inc., a leading provider of enterprise mobile management and mobile device management software, today announced a new set of Android-specific capabilities in its MobileManager platform to simplify configuring, provisioning, securing and supporting smartphones and tablets running the Google Android operating system. Zenprise's innovative Enterprise App Store enables administrators to quickly configure and provision enterprise applications on Android smartphones and tablets while freeing up workers to remain productive. Zenprise Remote Control also provides a lifeline between employees and IT whereby administrators can provide remote help for users on the go.

The popularity of consumer-owned and corporate-issued Android devices entering the workplace is comparable only to the rise in Apple smartphones and tablets. In fact, according to North American financial services provider BMO Capital Markets, the number of Android tablets expected to ship in the second half of 2011 will match those of Apple's iPad.

Zenprise's Enterprise App Store introduces a centralized model for administrators to efficiently provision applications directly to Android devices, as well as upgrade existing applications. Applications can also be auto-provisioned based on a user's department, title or role within the organization. Detailed reporting capabilities allow IT administrators to identify all applications installed on users' devices.

Remote support and assistance becomes particularly critical as people use tablets as their primary computing device. Zenprise's Remote Control for Android significantly reduces troubleshooting support times by allowing IT to centrally manage and support devices remotely. Help desk personnel can remotely connect and view a user's smartphone or tablet screen as if the device was in the palm of their hand. IT can then use a Task Manager function to view system resources such as memory or power that are affected by applications and remotely kill tasks that are consuming too many resources or pose a security risk. A Remote Chat feature allows IT to initiate chat sessions over a secure connection with a user who needs help.

"The days of IT being able to limit which devices employees can use in the enterprise is fast coming to a close," said Chris Hazelton, research director, mobile and wireless, at The 451 Group. "The Android platform has been widely embraced by consumers and these devices are fast entering the workplace. It's critical that organizations have a comprehensive and reliable means to manage and secure the widest array of smartphones and tablets, as well as the applications running on them, while ensuring a consistent end user experience."

"Without question, the tablet has become the new laptop and is indicative of how organizations have embraced enterprise mobility to enhance and differentiate their business," said Jayaram Bhat, CEO of Zenprise. "With the large growth of Android-based tablets coming into the enterprise, Zenprise is committed to helping organizations get the most value out of their Android deployments."

Zenprise's extensive list of more than 450 global customers spans a cross-section of countries and vertical industries including: Comcast, Boeing Corporation, Shook Hardy & Bacon LLP, Varian Medical Systems and Vodafone.
