Zephyr Prepares for Continued Growth, Creates Chief Operating Officer Position and Retains Scott O'Leary

ZEPHYR COVE, NV--(Marketwired - May 5, 2015) - Zephyr Photonics, Inc. today announced an addition to its senior management team to support its growth plans. The company created the position of Chief Operating Officer and retained Scott O'Leary to fill that post. O'Leary will focus on expanding the company's operations and guiding execution against its annual operating plan.

O'Leary joined Zephyr after nearly 30 years of diverse experience managing business operations, production operations, supply chain, systems integration and testing, and motivating teams through significant change and continuous improvement for world-class aerospace and defense companies. For the last four years, he was Director of Operations for Raytheon's Space and Airborne Systems, working in its EO/IR and Radar businesses. Prior to that, he worked at Orbital Sciences, General Dynamics, Spectrum Astro and Lockheed Martin.

"Scott will focus his attention on the effective execution of our annual operating plan and the efficient expansion of our capabilities to support the growth we anticipate for our optical transceiver and fiber/media conversion solutions, which enable migration from legacy copper to optical interconnects for space, airborne, maritime and terrestrial applications," said Duane Louderback, President and CTO.

Zephyr is the pioneer and world leader in the development and supply of ruggedized, electrically pluggable, active optical cables (AOCs) for space, airborne, maritime and terrestrial applications. These high-value, low-cost cable assemblies have the same electrically pluggable 38999 connectors as the legacy copper cables. They also implement the conversion of the electrical signals to/from optical in the compact connector backshells integrated directly with ruggedized fiber optic cabling.

"These ruggedized active optical cables can be used and treated just like a copper cable, while receiving all the benefits of a fiber optical cable, including substantial improvements in SWaP, EMI resilience, and bandwidth over distance," explained Louderback.

Louderback added, "Our team's success in growing existing businesses and moving innovative new products to market has been outstanding and other major product and market developments are coming to fruition. Our senior management team is now structured to focus diligently on both operational excellence and the achievement of our long-term growth plans, and we look forward to continuing to create value for all our stakeholders."

"I am excited by the growth prospects of the company and by the opportunity to help realize them," said O'Leary. "It starts with great people developing great solutions that are critical to our customers and supporting multiple, significant growth opportunities in front of us. I look forward to working with Duane and the Zephyr team as we continue to deliver new and valuable capabilities to our customers that help them to be more successful."
