Ziosk(R) Strengthens Restaurant Security Through Industry-First Secure Payment and Mobile Wallet Solutions

Apple Pay and EMV Smart Card Available to Ziosk Casual Dining Partners Beginning in 2016; Point-to-Point Encryption Currently Operating in 600 Restaurant Locations; Ziosk Continues Market Leadership in Pay-at-the Table Tablet Space Through Partnership With Vantiv

DALLAS, TX--(Marketwired - Sep 25, 2015) - Ziosk, maker of the world's first ordering, entertainment and pay-at-the table tablet, announced today that it is launching an industry-first security and payment solutions suite for its restaurant partners that includes: Apple Pay, the easy, secure and private way to pay, as well as other mobile payment solutions, Europay MasterCard Visa (EMV) contact and contactless cards and Point-to-Point Encryption (P2PE). This solution suite is fully upgradable and compatible with existing Ziosk tablets, enabling restaurants a fast and simple integration process.

Ziosk will begin accepting orders for the Apple Pay and EMV solutions suite by the first quarter in 2016. To take advantage of Ziosk's mobile payment offering, guests can either swipe or dip their payment cards or make a contactless payment from their personal device. To use Apple Pay, customers simply hold their iPhone near the Ziosk tablet's contactless reader while keeping a finger on Touch ID, or, when using Apple Watch, double-click the side button and hold the face up to the reader. A subtle vibration and beep let the diner know the payment was accepted and verified.

When you add a credit or debit card to Apple Pay, the actual card numbers are not stored on the device, nor on Apple servers. Instead, a unique Device Account Number is assigned, encrypted and securely stored in the Secure Element on your device. Each transaction is authorized with a one-time unique dynamic security code.

The new solutions suite will also enable the Ziosk tablet to accept Android Pay.

P2PE technology helps to ensure sensitive credit card data is protected from first card swipe, while in transit, all the way to payment providers. To provide P2PE to restaurants, Ziosk partnered with Element, a Vantiv company (NYSE: VNTV), which is the second largest merchant acquirer and the largest PIN debit acquirer in the U.S., providing technology and processing services for merchants and financial institutions of all sizes. Element's Transform P2PE technology provides industry leading Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) compliant technology for Ziosk to effectively remove the necessity to transmit and store all sensitive card data. P2PE is currently live in over 600 restaurant locations and available to all restaurants working with Ziosk.

"We are extremely pleased to be partnering with Ziosk to deliver the highest level of payment security to its restaurant customers. As pioneers of tokenization, integrated payments and P2PE, we are uniquely positioned to provide a sophisticated, layered security approach to the payment ecosystem," said Matt Taylor, Group President, Integrated Payments and Emerging Channels at Vantiv.

"Ziosk is revolutionizing pay-at-the-table solutions by providing guests more secure, innovative and efficient ways to pay at restaurants," said Austen Mulinder, CEO of Ziosk. "The near field communication technology that accommodates contactless payments such as Apple Pay was always central to Ziosk's long-term vision to accommodate mobile payment on demand. By layering this capability with enhanced P2PE and EMV security offerings, our solution provides both new and existing restaurant partners a cost effective approach, using existing payment processors, to comply with EMV migration, while delivering the highest level of payment security for guests using cards or mobile payments on the Ziosk."

Commanding 95 percent market share in the deployed tabletop tablet space, Ziosk tablets are currently in more than 2,500 restaurants across all 50 states. By the year's end Ziosk will have fully deployed its newest contracts, totaling over 150,000 new Ziosk tablets interacting with more than 50 million guests per month, and demonstrating Ziosk's continued momentum in the restaurant industry.
