Zip.ca Releases its Top 10 Most Requested Movies of the Year : Pirates of the Caribean No. 1 in Quebec While a History of Violence is Most Requested Movie in Canada

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Dec. 27, 2006) - While Zip.ca members in the rest of Canada were watching A History of Violence and The Constant Gardener, Quebecois chose mega-hits like the Pirates of the Caribbean : Dead Man's Chest and The Da Vinci Code, as shows Zip.ca's top 10s most requested DVDs of 2006. Zip.ca (www.zip.ca), is Canada's largest online video service with over 53, 000 titles. Its lists are generated directly from the selections made by its 34,000 members this year.

"We see a growing trend of movies that experienced a tepid box office striking gold in the rental market. Movies like A History of Violence and The Constant Gardener, didn't necessarily have the same box office clout as King Kong or Superman and yet they lead our list of most requested movies released on DVD this year," said Rick Anderson, President & CEO of Zip.ca.

The online video service noted a much different trend in in the Quebec market, where members rented more American blockbusters, with the notable exception for the Quebec movie Bon Cop, Bad Cop, wich rates 4th in the top most requested DVD of 2006 in the province.
