Zonit Structured Solutions Receives a Half Million Dollars in Financing From SBA

Boulder, Colo.-Based Technology Company With "At-the-Rack" Power Distribution & Management Products for Data Centers Receives $500,000 in Financing From the Small Business Administration

BOULDER, CO--(Marketwire - March 17, 2011) - Zonit Structured Solutions (, a developer of data center products primarily focused on power distribution and power management, today announced it has received $500,000 in financing from the Small Business Administration (SBA).

Founded in 2007, Zonit has been self-funded up until now, and has introduced several significant products designed to improve the efficiency of power consumption and power management in data centers, including the Zonit Power Distribution System (zPDS™) and the Micro Automatic Transfer Switch (µATS™). Zonit also has an impressive array of intellectual property that will be used to bring other products to market, including three patents, 8 patents pending, and 40 sub patents pending. Zonit's intellectual property will be developed into additional products for data centers in two keys areas: data center power consumption and management, and improving uptime (keeping equipment running 24/7, 365 days a year without any power failures). Zonit sought out financing from the SBA to facilitate more rapid expansion of its distribution network and product line, market launches for new products, and more.

"Zonit's products are the result of years of experience designing, building, integrating and moving data centers," said Bill Pachoud, Zonit chairman and founder. "We have decades of experience in dealing with data centers at every stage of their creation and lifecycle. This knowledge and experience is a part of what allows us to create products that are uniquely suited to the needs and requirements of data center managers. The financing from the SBA will fund critical initiatives that will fuel company growth."

Zonit Product Line Helps Data Centers Meet Critical Operational Needs & Green Mandates for Reduced Energy Usage and Uptime

Zonit's line of data center products have been developed to solve specific problems in power management and power distribution, as well as providing redundant power for data centers. Data centers must run 24/7 with redundant systems and constant uptime, and their energy usage nationwide and worldwide is considerable. In recent years, data centers have faced increasing pressure from industry groups, environmental groups, and government to reduce their carbon footprint and operate more efficiently. Zonit's line of products is designed to address these problems.

Zonit Product Line Overview: An Integrated Line of Products That Stand Alone And/Or Work Together

Zonit's current product line features products that stand alone, and which also work in tandem with each other. Product highlights include:

  • The Zonit Power Distribution System (zPDS™) - The zPDS simplifies electrical power distribution in data centers, including phase balancing, and provides more efficient delivery of power between data center electrical panels and the end-user racks and cages which house servers, data storage devices, and other electronic equipment. The zPDS works with all commonly used data center power distribution methods, such as traditional EMT conduit, raceways, and electrical busway systems. This patented technology results in significant reductions in the wiring needed to bring power from electrical panels to equipment in the racks. The zPDS also enables unique patent-pending data center build-out methods that can save up to 50% of the electrical build-out cost when building a new data center or renovating an existing data center.

  • The Micro Automatic Transfer Switch (µATS™) - Just announced in the fall of 2010, the Zonit Micro Automatic Transfer Switch (µATS™) is a feature-rich, affordable, ultra-small-form-factor (zero "U") automatic transfer switch for data centers and telecom/wiring closets. The Zonit µATS™ plugs directly into the back of single-power-supply devices (such as servers, routers, and switches). It features two power cords and intelligent circuitry that monitors the power quality of the main power source. If the main "A-source" power quality becomes unacceptable, the Zonit µATS™ automatically switches over and draws power from the "B-source," thus keeping the device to which it's connected up and running. The Zonit µATS™ provides the features and functions of rack-mounted automatic transfer switches at a much lower price point, and consumes NO rack space in the data center.

"We're delighted to receive this financing from the SBA, and are putting those funds to good use to expand the company's reach and scope on many levels," said Ric Lukasiewicz, Zonit's Vice President of Sales & Marketing. "Expansion plans and new initiatives already are underway with regards to sales, distribution, marketing, new product development, and more."
