Zoran's ATSC Digital Television Receiver Is First to Exceed A/74 Requirement for Digital Broadcast Transition

Compliance Tests Performed by Communications Research Centre Canada

SUNNYVALE, CA--(Marketwire - July 16, 2007) - Zoran Corporation (NASDAQ: ZRAN) announced that its Cascade vestigial sideband (VSB) receiver technology is the first to exceed A/74 requirements and to comply with the Advanced Television Systems Committee, ATSC Recommended Practice: Receiver Performance Guidelines, according to a recent Laboratory Test Report issued by the Communication Research Centre Canada (CRC), an industry recognized independent testing laboratory.

These guidelines seek to determine a receiver's capability to receive DTV signals under conditions expected to be found in various free-to-air reception environments such as densely populated urban areas, where it is more difficult to deliver clear reception due to broadcast reflections off buildings and vehicles.

"The overall receiver performance is above average of the other ATSC receivers tested in the last years at CRC. It is the first receiver to achieve or exceed all the A/74 requirements… ," states the Executive Summary of the Laboratory Evaluation of a VSB Television Receiver for Terrestrial Broadcasting, published May 14, 2007 by Communications Research Centre Canada.

"The A/74 Recommended Guidelines are the industry's unbiased objective criteria for ATSC receiver performance. We are pleased that Zoran's technology is the first to achieve and exceed these important performance requirements that will become standard as the U.S. converts to digital television broadcasts in 2009. Meanwhile, we are enabling our customers to deliver ATSC-compliant products now so that consumers will have affordable choices during the transition," said Ram Ofir, senior vice president, general manager Zoran's Home Entertainment division.

Zoran's Cascade VSB receiver technology is integrated into its SupraHD® 740 and SupraHD® 760 DTV processors as well as additional SupraHD® processors that will be introduced later this year.

Zoran's SupraHD® 740 processor powers its analog-to-digital converter box solution, which includes in-house, royalty-free ATSC middleware, a decoder, a complete ATSC demodulator, efficient single-memory system design, and application engineering that assists manufacturers in bringing new products quickly to market.

Zoran's SupraHD® 760 processor integrates all the components required to replace existing multi-chip TV solutions. It supports full ATSC and NTSC functionality required for digital and analog TV as well as high quality video scalar capabilities previously reserved for high-end, multi-chip HDTV solutions. It is capable of driving various types of LCD panels up to 1440 x 900 resolutions.
