ZyXEL Announces "America's Ugliest Home Office" Challenge for Consumers in Need of an Office Makeover

Small Home Office Users Invited to Submit Photos of Their Chaotic Home Office for Chance to Win a HomePlug AV Networking Kit

ANAHEIM, CA--(Marketwire - January 21, 2008) - ZyXEL Communications, Inc., a leading provider of secure broadband networking, Internet connectivity and routing products, today announced that it is searching for "America's Ugliest Home Office." On a quest to discover the most disorganized array of wires and cables in a small home office, ZyXEL is inviting consumers to submit a photo of their mass of wires. Photo submissions earn consumers a chance to win a HomePlug AV networking kit, which will help them with their office makeover by cleaning up their wired clutter. Instead of stringing wires along the walls and floors, ZyXEL's HomePlug AV networking kit provides an easy all-in-one solution that enables wireless connectivity and allows the use of their existing power lines where all they need to do, is plug it in -- no extra wires required.

Between January 21 and February 29, 2008, ZyXEL is on the hunt for "the worst train wreck of a SOHO office you can imagine." Designated "America's Ugliest Home Office," the challenge is an online contest where consumers can submit photos of the office space most in need of an intervention -- with a chance to win a ZyXEL HomePlug AV networking kit that enables them to network their home or small office wirelessly using their existing power lines and eliminate the cable clutter of an "ugly" office.

"We believe that America's Ugliest Home Office contest is a fun way for ZyXEL to acquaint consumers with the simplicity and power of HomePlug networking," said Munira Brooks, senior vice president of sales and marketing for ZyXEL. "Today's home office user employs a variety of multimedia technologies like digital audio and video along with printers, routers and other needed gear. This often means a messy network of cables and wires. With our Powerline solutions, that mess of wires and unsightly cables disappears."

A recognized leader in HomePlug Powerline solutions, ZyXEL created this challenge to demonstrate how easy it is to take a chaotic, hornet's nest of wiring and cables and simplify it with an all-in-one solution. The company recognizes that many small home offices utilize WiFi technology for greater mobility, and has developed the NBG318S Powerline Wireless Router with them in mind, giving them the best of both worlds -- simplicity of Powerline and mobility of wireless.

And the Winner Is....

The winner of America's Ugliest Home Office contest will win ZyXEL's NBG318S Powerline Wireless Router. The NBG318S is an all-in-one solution that packs Ethernet, WiFi and Powerline technologies into one box with the latest QoS technologies designed for gaming, VoIP, video streaming and Internet access. The NBG318S features the ability to be connected directly to a modem and can also act as a broadband extended wireless gateway by connecting to a modem via existing power lines.
