Former Edmonton Mayor Honoured by Namesake Neighbourhood in Southwest Edmonton

EDMONTON, AB--(Marketwired - May 26, 2016) - Terry Cavanagh, who served for 27 years on Edmonton's city council and who was appointed mayor twice, will participate in the ribbon cutting ceremony for Cavanagh, a new Edmonton community that carries his name. Bryan Anderson, Ward 9 city councillor and representative for the neighbourhood will also be in attendance.

At the grand opening event for Cavanagh in Southwest Edmonton attendees are invited to explore the "epl2go" literacy van, a project launched in January 2015 to provide interactive library services to new underserviced neighbourhoods. Free food and fun family activities such as three bouncy castles, a petting zoo, face painting, and a balloon artist will add to the festival atmosphere as the neighbourhood of Cavanagh celebrates its grand opening.

Cavanagh is accessed via Ellerslie Road and 103A Street adjacent to Queen Elizabeth II and Gateway Boulevard. The festival is taking place at 2204 Casey Crescent SW.
