Govan Brown Honored at CBCF Volunteer Recognition Awards


TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - April 28, 2014) - On April 6, 2014, Govan Brown was awarded the Corporate Commitment Award at the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation's Volunteer Recognition Awards ceremony. The awards are given out annually to individuals whose fundraising and volunteer efforts have had a large impact on the progression of breast cancer research.

Govan Brown was a guest at the high-tea event held at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel. Over the past year, Govan Brown has raised over $135,000 through various fundraising events and initiatives. The awareness gala was held to discuss the current state of breast cancer. An informative panel discussion featuring medical professionals and research leaders was held to encourage the continued funding of breast cancer research. Three years ago, Jon Taylor, Partner at Govan Brown was asked to sit on the Board of Leaders for the Cure and since then, Govan Brown has raised over $348,000 for the CBCF totaling over $418,000 towards breast cancer research in the last four years.

The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation is the largest non-governmental funder of breast cancer research in Canada. Founded in 1986, CBCF has invested $300 million in funding national research and community health grants. Their donations have led to progress in breast cancer prevention, diagnosis, treatment and care.
