MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA--(Marketwired - Mar 10, 2016) -  Qubole, the big data as-a-service company, today announced that it has appointed Andrew Daniels as Qubole's first chief information security officer (CISO) and vice president of security, compliance and privacy. As CISO, Daniels will focus on developing industry-leading security best practices at Qubole. Daniels will lead this area globally to ensure that application, product and infrastructure operations have the industry's best solutions in place to protect and validate the trust customers place in Qubole's solutions, continuing its commitment to help businesses succeed in their big data projects. Daniels will report directly to Ashish Thusoo, CEO and co-founder of Qubole, and will be working across the organization to align security and compliance practices.

"As enterprise cloud adoption continues to grow, so does the complexity of ensuring that sensitive data is not only secure, but also compliant with industry and geographic regulations. Qubole currently processes more than 250 petabytes of data every month from our customers across industries, and as we continue to grow it will be imperative to have a dedicated expert to manage customer security and compliance," said Ashish Thusoo, CEO and co-founder of Qubole. "We're thrilled to have Andrew join our team. His experience and expertise will help us mitigate risk and ensure our platform meets all customer needs."

Daniels joins Qubole with over two decades of industry experience building security and compliance programs for companies including Oracle, Shutterfly and Danger Inc. (acquired by Microsoft). Prior to Qubole, Daniels served as a security advisor at DanSec Consulting, where he advised executives, venture partners and board members on security best practices. He also previously held the position of Head of security, compliance and privacy at ClearSlide, where he led initiatives focused on product security, infrastructure / operational security, governance, corporate and intellectual property protection.

"In my experience, I've come to strongly believe that security must be a function that enables businesses to be successful by carefully navigating and addressing critical risks, building compliance and privacy frameworks that protect and build trust with customers," said Andrew Daniels, chief information security officer of Qubole. "At Qubole, I intend to help customers tame the uncertainty of the cloud by providing proper guidance around security best practices and educating them on the benefits they can reap from cloud-based big data analytics."
